These terms govern the use of nouscast.com and of the Nous courses, materials and communities. By using the site or buying one of our products, you agree to what is written here.
What Nous offers
Nous is a study project on classical literature, philosophy, theology, history and art. We publish free videos and articles, send a newsletter, run a study club, and sell courses, materials and subscriptions.
The content is educational in purpose. It does not constitute individual legal, medical, psychological, financial or religious advice, and does not replace guidance from a qualified professional.
Registration and access
Some features require registration. You agree to provide truthful information and to keep your password confidential. Access is personal and non-transferable.
Sharing a login, bulk downloading, and redistributing course material are grounds for cancelling access, with no refund of instalments already due.
If you notice unauthorised use of your account, tell us immediately at the address at the end of this page.
Payments
Sales are processed by Kiwify, which issues the charge and the receipt. Prices are those displayed at the moment of purchase, in the currency shown.
We never receive or store your card details. The entire transaction takes place within the payment platform.
For subscriptions, renewal is automatic at the agreed interval until you cancel. You may cancel at any time; it takes effect at the end of the period already paid, with no penalty.
Right of withdrawal and refunds
Online purchases carry a 7 calendar day right of withdrawal, counted from the date of purchase or of first access to the content, whichever comes later. This is guaranteed by article 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code.
Within that window the refund is full and requires no justification. Simply request it through the payment platform or by writing to us. The reimbursement follows the timeline of the payment method used.
After 7 days there is no refund for content already released, except where we have failed to deliver what was sold.
Live sessions and recordings
Live sessions take place at the announced date and time. They may be recorded and made available to participants.
By taking part with your camera or microphone on, you allow your image and voice to appear in the recording distributed to the group. If you prefer not to appear, take part with your camera off and use the chat.
If a session has to be rescheduled, we give as much notice as possible, and the recording remains available to those who cannot attend.
Intellectual property
The texts, videos, lessons, handouts, artwork and materials of Nous are protected by copyright and belong to Nous or to their authors.
You may use them for personal study. You may not copy, resell, republish, translate, host on another service, or use them to train artificial intelligence models without our written permission.
Quoting excerpts with attribution and a link to the source is permitted and welcome.
The classical works discussed in our materials belong to their respective authors, translators and publishers. Our copyright covers the commentary, the selection and the form of presentation, not the works discussed.
Conduct in the communities
In the study club and the discussion channels we expect frank disagreement and civility. Argument against argument is what the project exists to practise.
Personal attacks, hate speech, harassment, spam, unauthorised commercial promotion and sharing of pirated material are not tolerated. Participation may be terminated in such cases.
Third-party content
The site contains links to third-party sites, including Amazon affiliate links, from which we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
We do not control the content, prices or policies of those sites and are not responsible for them. Once you follow an external link, the destination's terms apply.
Service availability
We work to keep everything online, but the service may be unavailable due to maintenance, third-party failure or force majeure. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
We may change, suspend or discontinue free features at any time. Courses already sold remain accessible for the period announced at the time of purchase.
Limitation of liability
We are answerable for what we sell: if a product is not delivered as advertised, we fix it or refund what you paid.
We are not answerable for decisions you make based on the educational content, nor for indirect damages, lost profits or data loss arising from use of the site.
Nothing in these terms removes the rights the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code guarantees you.
Privacy
The processing of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the update date at the top changes with them. Significant changes are announced by email to users with an active registration before they take effect.
Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Brazilian law. The courts of the consumer's domicile are competent for any dispute, as determined by the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code.
